The balconies of the Sears Tower in Chicago - not for people who have vertigo!

The owners of the Sears Tower , the tallest skyscraper in the United States ( Chicago ), inaugurated last week four glass box viewing platforms. These balconies are suspended 1,353 feet (412 meters) in the air on the 103rd floor. They are 10ft high and 10ft wide and can hold 5 tons with their 1.5 inch thick glasses.

Japanese Couple Wed By A Robot

Satoko Inoue and Tomohiro Shibata bothe looked amazing on their wedding day, but the spotlight was stolen by i-Fairy, the humanoid robot that replaced the priest.

Inoue, the bride, works for the company that produces the i-Fairy robot, and Shibata is a client, so it’s safe to say robots are the reason they began dating in the first place. At his beloved’s suggestion, the groom was more than happy to replace the priest with an adorable robot that rose to the challenge, thanks to some special programming.

The bride said she always felt like robots could play a big role in people’s lives, and she’s glad her experience showed the whole world just that. Representatives of the company that makes i-Fairy said they’re thrilled one of their products was the center of attention in the first wedding presided over by a robot.

ING House in Amsterdam

ING House was designed by Amsterdam-based Meyer and Van Schooten Architects.

It has a streamlined shape in anodized aluminium and glass and is constructed like a table on 16 steel legs. The legs stand freely on pins in large concrete blocks in the ground, a technique used in bridge building.

The building is 28 meters wide, 138 meters long and at the highest point of its 10 floors, 48 meters tall. The total site area is 5,600m2. ING House has a lobby, 250 seat auditorium, a foyer, restaurant, library, more than 800m2 of conference rooms and 160 parking spaces.

The inside of the building is home to an impressive art collection. work stations, which give employees the chance to change their working environment. Most employees also enjoy a view of one of the six inner gardens.

Floating Stadium

Made entirely of steel, the floating platform on Marina Bay measures 120 metres long and 83 metres wide, which is 5% larger than the soccer field at the National Stadium. The platform can bear up to 1,070 tonnes, equivalent to the total weight of 9,000 people, 200 tonnes of stage props and three 30-tonne military vehicles. The gallery at the stadium has a seating capacity of 30,000 people.
